Deputy Manager – Logistics & Warehousing (Pan‑India)

About the role

The Deputy Manager – Logistics will lead and optimise logistics operations across India, ensuring on‑time deliveries, cost efficiency and high customer satisfaction. This role oversees transportation, warehousing, freight negotiations and the digital transformation of logistics processes.

Key responsibilities

• Design and monitor the PAN‑India distribution network for primary (plant‑to‑depot) and secondary (depot‑to‑customer) flows.
• Develop and maintain an approved transporter base, negotiate freight contracts and drive cost optimisation through reverse auctions, FTL utilisation and load consolidation.
• Manage company‑owned and 3PL warehouses, ensuring inventory accuracy, FIFO, cycle‑count compliance and optimal space utilisation.
• Own the logistics budget, track freight cost per MT/shipment/order and achieve year‑on‑year savings targets.
• Define SLAs and KPIs for transporters, warehouse partners and CFA/Depot operators, conduct quarterly performance reviews and resolve claims.
• Reduce customer delivery complaints, coordinate with sales, production, planning, finance and IT, and handle priority deliveries and escalations.
• Lead implementation of TMS, WMS, GPS, e‑POD and route‑optimisation tools, and drive analytics‑based decisions for capacity planning and demand clustering.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing transportation and warehousing operations at a national level.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams and drive logistics digitisation.
• Strong track record in freight cost optimisation and budget ownership.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with a focus on customer service.
