Custom Software Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Custom Software Engineer to design, build, and configure AI‑native, data‑centric applications on SAP BTP Datasphere. You will combine enterprise data‑warehousing expertise with advanced AI architectures to create intelligent data experiences that go beyond traditional dashboards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement governed data products using Datasphere Spaces, models, and shareable views.
• Build semantic models suitable for analytics and AI consumption, ensuring clear entity definitions and lineage.
• Develop Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions that connect LLM applications to curated Datasphere models and enterprise sources.
• Enable hybrid modernization by bridging legacy SAP BW models to Datasphere for phased cloud migration.
• Implement lakehouse‑style layering (Bronze/Silver/Gold) with built‑in data quality controls.
• Create data agents that orchestrate tool calls, retrieve context, and generate answers with citations.
• Establish evaluation loops, telemetry, and observability for AI interactions.
• Collaborate with business, data‑governance, and platform teams to align data products with operational needs.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in data engineering or software development.
• Strong background in enterprise data warehousing and semantic modeling.
• Experience with AI/LLM technologies and retrieval‑augmented solutions.
• Ability to work independently and partner with cross‑functional teams.
