Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

About the role

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides daily nursing care and support to residents in a healthcare facility, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well‑being in accordance with care plans and supervisory direction.

Key responsibilities

• Identify residents using wristbands or photo cards before providing any care or service.
• Record all resident information using authorized abbreviations and maintain accurate flow sheets, notes, and charts.
• Report any changes in a resident’s condition, accidents, incidents, or complaints promptly to the Nurse Supervisor or Charge Nurse.
• Assist residents with personal care, mobility, dressing, and feeding, including describing food items for those with visual impairments.
• Measure and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration) and document food and fluid intake as instructed.
• Prepare resident rooms, greet and escort residents, introduce them to roommates, and ensure a welcoming environment.
• Transport residents within the facility, help with loading/unloading from vehicles, and assist with packing personal belongings during room changes or discharge.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and calm atmosphere on the unit, following infection‑control policies and handling blood/body fluid exposure according to protocol.

Required profile

• Ability to follow care plans and supervisory instructions accurately.
• Strong observational skills to notice and report changes in resident health or behavior.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with residents, families, and healthcare staff.
• Commitment to resident privacy and confidentiality of protected health information.
• Physical stamina to assist with resident mobility, transfers, and bedside care.
