About the role
The Catering Supervisor joins the NHS Scotland catering team to oversee the preparation, cooking and service of a wide range of meals, including therapeutic diets, for patients, staff, visitors and events. The role involves supervising staff and ensuring high standards of food quality and safety across all shifts.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and serve a variety of dishes, adhering to therapeutic diet requirements.
- Supervise and support subordinate catering staff, stepping in for dedicated supervisors when absent.
- Maintain hygiene and safety standards in line with NHS policies.
- Manage shift coverage and adapt to varied working hours as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of catering operations and patient satisfaction.
Required profile
- Experience in hospital or large‑scale food service environments.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team under flexible shift patterns.
- Understanding of therapeutic diet specifications and NHS food standards.
- Commitment to equality, diversity and patient‑centred care.
