About the role
This position supports Ford North America operations by managing end‑to‑end purchasing activities, including purchase orders, tool orders, and price adjustments. The Buyer works closely with regional suppliers, cross‑functional stakeholders, and joint‑venture partners to ensure uninterrupted plant supply and meet cost targets.
Key responsibilities
- Execute Purchase Orders (POs) and Tool Orders (TOs) aligned with demand, engineering changes, and capacity requirements.
- Validate supplier quotations and negotiate optimal pricing for design changes and capacity increases.
- Proactively mitigate supply risks to guarantee continuous supply to Ford plants.
- Adhere to defined turnaround times for purchasing activities.
- Identify and deliver cost‑saving opportunities supporting Target/Total Value Management objectives.
- Ensure 100 % compliance with Ford purchasing policies, procedures, and audit requirements.
- Collaborate with regional suppliers, cross‑functional teams, and JV partners.
- Support strategy development for assigned commodities and suppliers.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- 5–8 years of purchasing or buying experience.
- Strong negotiation and commercial skills.
- Ability to work across global time zones, including late‑night shifts.
Required skills
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Ariba.
