Buyer / Global Sourcing Specialist

About the role

As a member of the Global Sourcing Team, you will report to the Director of Global Sourcing and be responsible for executing RFQs and purchase orders for assigned commodities. You will evaluate vendor proposals, maintain pricing databases, and support the development of new suppliers in the power and petrochemical sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute RFQs for assigned projects.
• Maintain and update proposal databases, including pricing history and supplier performance.
• Use historical pricing data to assist sales with budget proposals.
• Coordinate the global sourcing process, lead weekly status meetings, and hold stakeholders accountable.
• Provide backup for the Director, including supplier communication and expediting responses.
• Prepare RFQ packages and collaborate with internal teams to ensure completeness.
• Execute purchase orders for subcontract fabrication, tubes, auxiliary equipment, etc.
• Identify and qualify new suppliers as directed.
• Create and update reports for the Director of Global Sourcing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering, from an accredited university.
• Minimum five years of global sourcing or procurement experience in the power or petrochemical industry.
• Knowledge of feedwater heaters, condensers, and heat exchangers.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering design drawings.
• Strong negotiation abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and mathematical skills.
• Comfort working within a matrix organization and interacting with all company levels.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
