Assistant Manager – Transport Operations (Rail & Inland Terminals)

About the role

The Assistant Manager – Transport Operations will oversee rail and inland terminal activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost‑effective movement of goods. You will lead driver management, vehicle maintenance planning, and documentation while driving continuous improvement in operational performance.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor transport performance and safety targets, reporting to senior management.
• Prepare reports, present recommendations to clients and leadership.
• Supervise staff, organise shift rotations and coordinate driver training.
• Identify transport challenges, develop models and evaluate alternative transport options.
• Implement all transportation activities, manage vendor relationships and control costs.
• Negotiate transportation rates, handle congestion issues and support climate‑friendly strategies.
• Maintain diesel records, verify vendor bills and manage E‑Way bills.
• Ensure vehicle compliance, trailer upkeep and rapid response to breakdowns.
• Conduct annual driver safety training and enforce company security norms.

Required profile

• Graduate degree.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in transport or logistics operations.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and oral.
