Agentic AI Architect (m/f/d)

About the role

The Agentic AI Architect will shape BASF Digital Hub’s autonomous‑agent platform, defining reference architectures and ensuring seamless integration of managed services and custom runtimes. You will work with cross‑functional teams to deliver secure, scalable AI solutions that drive innovation across the chemical industry.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain the enterprise reference architecture for autonomous agents, integrating Azure AI Foundry services with custom open‑source runtimes on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
• Own technical standards such as the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent‑to‑Agent (A2A) communication protocol.
• Design the central semantic router that interprets user intent and orchestrates workflows across distributed agents.
• Create “Golden Path” blueprints leveraging Databricks Unity Catalog for large‑scale data context and AKS for stateful agent swarms using frameworks like LangGraph or AutoGen.
• Partner with platform teams (SAP, Salesforce) to co‑architect complex cross‑domain workflows and act as the primary technical authority for high‑risk agent deployments.
• Embed zero‑trust, security‑by‑design principles into all agent actions, ensuring authentication, authorization, and auditability via the Guardrail Engine.

Required profile

• Deep knowledge of agent design patterns (ReAct, Plan‑and‑Solve, Swarms, Hierarchical Teams) and their appropriate application.
• Extensive experience with Azure AI Foundry for model governance and Azure Kubernetes Service for custom workloads.
• Proven ability to define technical standards and lead architectural design for large‑scale, distributed AI systems.
• Strong collaboration skills to work with multiple platform teams and drive governance across the ecosystem.
