Test Automation Engineer – Operational EHS Platform

About the role

Join a global, multidisciplinary team responsible for the Operational EHS Platform at BASF. As a Test Automation Engineer you will ensure the accuracy and reliability of software modules used daily across BASF production facilities worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain automated UI and API test suites using JavaScript and frameworks such as Playwright or Selenium.
• Design, execute, and maintain manual and exploratory tests for new features and major releases.
• Drive test automation coverage, prioritising maintainability and reducing flaky tests.
• Collaborate with the Operational EHS Solutions team to define comprehensive test cases.
• Provide feedback and corrective recommendations to full‑stack developers.
• Own the test approach for assigned modules in line with the global testing strategy.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Informatics, Business Informatics or a comparable field.
• 5+ years of experience as a QA Automator in a large team.
• 5+ years of experience in manual QA within a large team.

Required skills

• JavaScript programming.
• Test automation frameworks: Playwright, Selenium or similar.
• UI and API test development.
• Manual and exploratory testing.
• Solid understanding of QA methodologies and test design.
• Performance testing and configuration management.
• ISTQB certification (nice to have).
• Load testing tools such as Locust or JMeter (nice to have).
• Issue isolation, troubleshooting and debugging.
• Familiarity with DevOps tools for development, release and monitoring.
• Experience working in an agile Scrum environment.
• Ability to learn independently and coach others.
