Senior Technical Architect – Cloud & SQL Server (Azure, PowerShell)

About the role

The Senior Technical Architect will own and operate mission-critical SQL Server and Oracle databases in a 24/7 enterprise environment. You will work closely with application, infrastructure, operations and customer-facing teams to ensure database availability, performance and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain SQL Server (including Azure SQL) databases for maximum performance, availability and security.
• Provide 24/7 on-call support, troubleshoot complex production issues, and drive incidents to closure.
• Develop and execute backup, recovery, HA/DR and capacity-planning strategies.
• Perform performance tuning, database corruption repair, and optimization of SQL Agent jobs and stored procedures.
• Automate operational tasks using PowerShell, Python and other scripting tools.
• Manage database upgrades, migrations, cluster installations and virtual server configurations.
• Monitor database health with tools such as SolarWinds and Commvault, and create proactive dashboards.
• Document standards, provide mentorship to junior DBAs and collaborate with other IT teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.
• 10-13 years of experience as a senior Microsoft SQL Server DBA.
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure cloud services.
• Proven ability to handle customer escalations and work in a fast-paced environment.
