Head of Communications and Research

About the role

The Head – Communications and Research will lead and institutionalise strategic, community‑anchored and research‑driven communications for Tata Steel Foundation. Reporting to the CEO, this senior leader will shape the foundation’s thought‑leadership, brand identity and internal culture across a diverse, nationwide operation.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver cohesive, high‑impact communication outcomes across brand management, digital, internal, external and content functions through integrated planning and performance tracking.
• Develop dynamic communication plans aligned to organisational priorities and respond to emerging needs.
• Produce evidence‑based research and public‑policy briefs in collaboration with thematic leaders.
• Ensure consistent implementation of TSF brand guidelines across programmes, sub‑brands and partnerships, with periodic governance and audits.
• Build a respected social‑media presence grounded in ground‑up content, community narratives and a people‑first approach.
• Strengthen external visibility and credibility through strategic media engagement and stakeholder outreach.
• Drive employee convergence and engagement via internal communication platforms, storytelling and structured initiatives.
• Provide continuous communication and branding support to all themes and programmes.

Required profile

• Significant senior‑level experience in communications, brand management and digital media.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams and manage complex stakeholder ecosystems.
• Strong research orientation with experience developing policy briefs and evidence‑based content.
• Demonstrated success in building and maintaining brand identity across diverse programmes.
• Excellent strategic thinking and execution skills in a social‑impact context.
