Executive Housekeeper

About the role

The Executive Housekeeper is the single point of ownership for the appearance, hygiene and ambience of every guest space at Ekam Kashi, a boutique heritage hotel in Varanasi. This hands‑on leadership role requires you to set standards, lead a small team and collaborate with all other departments that touch a guest room.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the look, feel and cleanliness of guest rooms, public areas, back‑of‑house and outdoor zones.
• Lead, schedule and supervise a housekeeping team of 8‑15 members, including attendants, public‑area cleaners and laundry staff.
• Conduct room inspections before handover, manage snag lists and coordinate with maintenance.
• Oversee linen, amenities, uniforms and cleaning chemicals – stock control, ordering and laundry coordination.
• Train staff on Pasban SOPs, hygiene standards and guest‑contact etiquette.
• Run preventive deep‑clean, pest‑control and water‑tank cleaning calendars.
• Handle lost‑and‑found items and maintain the register.
• Negotiate with local vendors for amenities, chemicals and laundry services.
• Manage the housekeeping budget for consumables, payroll and outsourced services.

Required profile

• 5‑8 years of hotel housekeeping experience, with at least 2 years in a senior supervisory role (Assistant Executive Housekeeper or Executive Housekeeper).
• Experience in boutique, luxury or heritage properties is strongly preferred.
• Sharp eye for detail and ability to spot inconsistencies.
• Comfortable leading and disciplining a team of 8‑15 people.
• Willingness to live in or near Varanasi.
• Hotel management diploma or degree preferred, but exceptional operators without formal qualification are considered.

Required skills

• Strong working knowledge of linen, amenities, cleaning chemicals and laundry operations.
