About the role

The Assistant Manager – Technical Development Flexible PU will support customers and technical sales by developing and optimizing polyurethane (PU) solutions, primarily for flexible foam applications in the automotive and furniture sectors. The role is based in Delhi and involves hands‑on laboratory work, project coordination, and cross‑functional collaboration across South Asia.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop new applications for the Polyurethane (PU) portfolio, focusing on flexible foam systems.
• Conduct in‑house trials, approve new formulations, and maintain comprehensive documentation of all developments.
• Assist in setting and reviewing quality‑control specifications for new and existing PU systems.
• Lead customer‑driven innovation projects and manage joint development initiatives with full accountability.
• Maintain standard operating procedures, laboratory equipment, and ensure compliance with EHS (BASF) guidelines.
• Evaluate low‑cost raw‑material alternatives to reduce formulation costs and facilitate formulation transfers.
• Develop and implement a PU system development plan aligned with market needs.
• Resolve non‑conformance issues, liquidate aged stock, and address customer complaints.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regional technical teams, sales, supply‑chain, and quality assurance.

Required profile

• Experience in technical development of polyurethane systems, especially flexible foam.
• Strong laboratory and trial‑execution skills.
• Ability to create and maintain SOPs and ensure EHS compliance.
• Project‑management capability to drive joint development projects.
• Effective collaboration with cross‑functional teams and external partners.
