About the role
The Social Protection Officer will lead the day‑to‑day operations of HelpAge India’s Mobile Health Unit (MHU) in Gandhidham. Reporting to the State Programme Manager, the role ensures effective delivery of health services to older persons, raises community awareness and facilitates access to social protection schemes.
Key responsibilities
- Provide leadership and supervision to the MHU team, organise daily operational plans and manage staff scheduling.
- Hire, onboard and train substitute staff, ensuring familiarity with the project and the M‑Sparsh mobile app.
- Conduct needs assessments, community surveys and stakeholder mapping to plan MHU visits and locate the unit in safe, accessible sites.
- Mobilise communities, organise IEC campaigns and deliver health, rights and entitlement information.
- Offer individual and group counselling, emotional support and home visits to vulnerable elderly beneficiaries.
- Maintain data records, monitor programme indicators and report progress to senior management.
Required profile
- Experience in managing community‑based health programmes or mobile health units.
- Ability to conduct field assessments, surveys and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong interpersonal skills for counselling, group facilitation and community mobilisation.
- Willingness to work in remote or underserved areas and travel as required.
Required skills
- Proficiency with the M‑Sparsh mobile application for data entry and reporting.
