Senior Software Engineer – API Integrations

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its Integrations & API Connectivity team. You will design and deliver secure, high‑quality API connections with financial institutions and payroll providers, helping expand Mastercard’s financial ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain secure API integrations with banks and payroll providers.
• Lead system enhancements and ensure service level agreements are met.
• Own the full software development lifecycle from requirements to production support.
• Manage production incidents, perform root‑cause analysis, and participate in on‑call rotations.
• Research and recommend new technologies, frameworks, and third‑party solutions.
• Collaborate with external vendors and facilitate knowledge transfer to internal teams.
• Promote engineering excellence through code reviews and adherence to Mastercard standards.
• Mentor offshore developers and guide them through the SDLC.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong experience designing and building API‑focused systems.
• Solid understanding of modern software engineering principles, distributed systems, and secure application development.
• Experience supporting production systems, including incident management and on‑call duties.
• High energy, detail‑oriented, proactive, and able to work independently under pressure.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a globally distributed team.
