Head of Procurement & Contracting – Materials

About the role

The Head of Procurement & Contracting – Materials will design and execute the sourcing strategy for direct and engineering materials, ensuring timely, cost‑effective supply that supports product quality, growth and profitability targets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop procurement strategy aligned with internal guidelines and create the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) in collaboration with the GMS team.
• Oversee end‑to‑end execution of functional plans, monitor performance against AOP targets and drive corrective actions.
• Participate in budgeting cycles, allocate and manage sub‑function budgets, and ensure minimal variance between target and actual spend.
• Maintain product and spare quality while achieving cost efficiencies within budget constraints.
• Collaborate with business, technology and other stakeholder teams to identify and implement cost‑optimisation opportunities.
• Manage supplier relationships, evaluate performance, and negotiate long‑term contracts with OEMs.
• Monitor inventory levels, lead times and safety stock to guarantee timely replenishment.
• Provide guidance on GST/tax structures, ensure timely credit availment and support related documentation.

Required profile

• Proven ability to create and implement procurement strategies for material sourcing.
• Experience overseeing full procurement cycles and managing budgets.
• Strong knowledge of GST/tax regulations and their impact on procurement.
• Demonstrated skill in supplier evaluation, performance monitoring and contract negotiation.
• Leadership experience managing cross‑functional teams and driving operational excellence.
