External Auditor – Remote Contract

About the role

Mercor is seeking an experienced External Auditor to join its remote team on a contract basis. You will design and execute long‑horizon audit tasks, creating deterministic rubrics and scenarios that assess agent performance against verifiable ground truth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop audit tasks with deterministic rubrics to evaluate performance against ground truth.
• Create risk‑assessment scenarios, assign documented ratings, and map audit programs to assertions.
• Design execution tasks, including control testing with known populations and confirmations.
• Conduct wrap‑up activities such as workpaper reviews, defect identification, and deficiency memos.
• Work independently and asynchronously, delivering high‑focus, challenging audit scenarios.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in external audit (Big 4 or national firm) or internal audit at a public company.
• Comfortable preparing audit artifacts such as workpapers, walkthroughs, test matrices, and deficiency write‑ups.
• Clear written communication and ability to encode reasoning into deterministic rubrics.
• CPA certification or candidate preferred.

• Substantive analytics.
• Sampling methodology.
• Audit software experience (Aura, Clara, Canvas, TeamMate, AuditBoard).

What we offer
