Exterior Engineer (Automotive)

About the role

The company is seeking an experienced Exterior Engineer to lead the development of automotive exterior components such as bumpers, ducts, spoilers, wheel‑arch liners and heat shields. You will be responsible for delivering high‑quality parts on time, within cost targets and meeting all functional and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, validation and integration of exterior components, ensuring durability, thermal performance, weight and cost targets are met.
• Manage supplier relationships, APQP documentation, cost and timing reviews.
• Support vehicle launch and pre‑production builds, including prototype part delivery and assembly validation.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams across international locations and drive teamwork plans and work‑priority definition.
• Apply quality control tools such as GD&T, DVA, DVP, DFMEA and PPIR throughout the development process.

Required profile

• 4‑12 years of experience in automotive exterior component development.
• Strong knowledge of product design, manufacturing processes, tooling concepts and exterior regulations.
• Proven project‑management capability delivering projects on time, cost and quality.
• Experience in supplier management and leading commodity development.
• Ability to communicate effectively with cross‑functional and international teams.
