About the role
The St. Regis Mumbai is seeking a motivated Commis to join its culinary team. You will support chefs by preparing ingredients, cooking dishes, and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment.
Key responsibilities
- Portion, chop, wash, peel, weigh, measure and mix ingredients according to recipes.
- Prepare and cook hot and cold foods, ensuring quality, presentation and safety standards.
- Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, fryers and other kitchen equipment.
- Test food for doneness, monitor temperature of appliances and food.
- Set up and break down work stations, serve food in proper portions, and clean/disinfect kitchen areas, tools and equipment.
- Follow company safety policies, report incidents, and maintain personal hygiene and uniform standards.
- Collaborate with team members, communicate professionally and support collective goals.
Required profile
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- At least 1 year of related kitchen experience.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 25 lb and perform repetitive motions for an entire shift.
- No supervisory experience required.
Required skills
- Food preparation and basic cooking techniques.
- Operation of kitchen equipment (ovens, grills, fryers, microwaves).
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
