Coke Drum Mechanic – JMD SEZ Coker

About the role

The Coke Drum Mechanic is responsible for safe and efficient maintenance of coke drum equipment and associated coker plant systems. The role involves hands‑on work on drum covers, unheading systems, valves, and auxiliary equipment while adhering to strict safety procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Perform hot‑bolting, opening and box‑up activities on coke drum top and bottom covers following standard safety practices.
• Maintain and troubleshoot motor‑operated valves, hydraulic systems, and the unheading mechanism.
• Inspect and service coke cutting systems, gearboxes, and plant equipment such as cranes, crushers and conveyor lines.
• Record consumable usage, manage emergency tool kits, and keep a detailed shift logbook.
• Conduct insulation, piping, and structural inspections and report findings to the Maintenance Engineer.
• Provide toolbox talks for contract workers and ensure all tools and lifting equipment are certified and functional.
• Assist during non‑routine activities, plant shutdowns, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• ITI or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Practical experience in mechanical maintenance of industrial equipment.
• Strong organizational, coordination and communication abilities.
• Self‑motivated, dependable and capable of working independently.
