Cargo Operator

About the role

Ausland Ship Management is seeking a full‑time, on‑site Cargo Operator to join its team in Thoothukudi. You will coordinate daily cargo handling activities, ensuring safe loading, unloading, stacking and securing of cargo in line with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day cargo operations, including loading, unloading, stacking and securing cargo.
• Monitor cargo movements and maintain accurate documentation.
• Communicate with vessel crews, port authorities and logistics partners to ensure smooth operations.
• Track shipments, resolve operational issues and support scheduling to minimise delays.
• Record discrepancies, prepare reports and uphold safety and regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience or knowledge in cargo/freight handling and operations management.
• Customer‑service orientation with prompt response to inquiries.
• Understanding of freight and supply‑chain processes, including documentation.
• Attention to detail, strong organisational abilities and ability to work under time constraints.
• Willingness to work on‑site in a port environment with flexible shifts, weekends or extended hours.
• Familiarity with basic computer applications; prior maritime or logistics experience is a plus.
• Relevant diploma or degree in logistics, supply‑chain, maritime studies or equivalent practical experience.
