Assistant Manager QC

About the role

The Assistant Manager QC will lead the quality control laboratory at BASF's paint manufacturing plant in Mangalore. The role focuses on improving test methods, ensuring equipment reliability, and guaranteeing the technical feasibility of new inspection plans.

Key responsibilities

• Test raw materials, intermediates, in‑process and finished products according to specifications.
• Conduct long‑term evaluations such as salt‑spray, humidity, accelerated weathering and outdoor exposure tests.
• Perform PV testing received from vendors and customers.
• Troubleshoot product‑related issues and maintain quality system documentation.
• Implement and monitor Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) procedures, ensuring compliance with BASF standards.
• Manage laboratory equipment maintenance, calibration and replacement in coordination with the maintenance department.
• Maintain records required by the quality management system.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate degree in Chemistry, B.Tech in Paint Technology or Diploma in Surface Coating Technology.
• 6‑12 years of QA/QC experience in paint manufacturing.
• Certified IATF 16949 internal auditor.
• Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
• Knowledge of seven QC tools and experience as a licensed VDA 6.3 auditor.

Required skills

• Fundamental knowledge of paint chemistry.
• Fundamental knowledge of resin chemistry.
• Proficiency with quality tools and test equipment handling.
• IATF 16949 internal auditor competence.
• Six Sigma Black Belt expertise.
• VDA 6.3 auditor qualification.
• Lean Master capabilities.
