Assistant Manager – Manufacturing Engineering (MED)

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Assistant Manager to lead machining‑related New Product Development (NPD) activities from concept through production launch. The role combines hands‑on CNC programming, fixture design, and process optimisation to deliver high‑quality components in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support NPD projects for component machining, ensuring smooth transition from design to production.
• Develop detailed machining process plans that balance quality, productivity, and cost.
• Select and validate cutting tools, fixtures, gauges, and work‑holding systems.
• Prepare and optimise CNC programs for VMC, HMC and CNC turning machines (Fanuc, Siemens, Mazak or equivalent).
• Drive cycle‑time reduction, productivity gains and process‑capability improvements.
• Coordinate with design, quality, production and suppliers to ensure project alignment.
• Conduct feasibility studies, process trials and PPAP/APQP activities for new components.
• Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues on the shop floor.
• Maintain compliance with safety, quality and manufacturing standards.

Required profile

• B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a machining manufacturing environment, preferably in automotive, compressor, precision or heavy engineering.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and cross‑functional communication skills.
• Result‑oriented, hands‑on approach with the ability to work directly on the shop floor.

Required skills

• Component machining processes and manufacturing engineering.
• CNC programming (Fanuc, Siemens, Mazak or equivalent).
• Fixture design concepts and cutting‑tool application.
• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and interpretation of engineering drawings.
• Machining tolerances and process validation.
• Cycle‑time optimisation and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen and TPM practices.
