Assistant Legal Counsel

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Legal Counsel to support our banking and financial services operations. The role involves providing comprehensive legal assistance across contract management, advisory, litigation, compliance, and risk mitigation.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, MOUs, NDAs and ensure legal compliance.
• Provide day‑to‑day legal advice to business units, HR, risk and compliance teams, interpreting applicable laws and RBI guidelines.
• Assist in managing litigation, arbitration and regulatory proceedings, coordinating with external counsel.
• Monitor regulatory changes, ensure adherence to banking laws and RBI directions, and advise management on implications.
• Identify legal risks in business proposals and recommend mitigation measures.
• Liaise with regulators, law firms and statutory authorities, building strong internal stakeholder partnerships.

Required profile

• LL.B. degree (mandatory); LL.M. preferred.
• 2–5 years of experience in a bank, NBFC, law firm or corporate legal department, preferably within banking/financial services.
• Strong knowledge of banking and financial legislation such as the Banking Regulation Act, RBI regulations, Companies Act and Contract Act.
