Virtual Medical Assistant – Patient Coordination & Insurance Support

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Virtual Medical Assistant to join a growing U.S. healthcare practice that focuses on musculoskeletal health, pain management, personal injury, and decompression therapy. This remote, part‑time position (30 hours/week) involves handling a high volume of patient interactions and supporting front‑desk operations from home.

Key responsibilities

• Answer inbound patient calls and messages with empathy and professionalism.
• Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments, prioritising urgent pain‑related cases.
• Send and verify completion of online intake forms and condition‑specific assessments.
• Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and assist with prior authorisation requests.
• Review patient accounts, communicate financial responsibilities, and collect payments when appropriate.
• Support ledger reconciliation and review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) alongside the physician.

Required profile

• Strong verbal communication skills with a compassionate, patient‑focused attitude.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment handling multiple tasks.
• Attention to detail for insurance verification, prior authorisations, and financial documentation.
