Sustainability Packaging Manager – Innovation & AI

About the role

EY is looking for a seasoned Packaging Manager to lead sustainability‑focused innovation across consumer‑centric sectors such as FMCG, pharma, food and retail. You will combine deep packaging expertise with digital and AI‑driven insights to help clients create next‑generation, circular packaging solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute packaging innovation and transformation strategies aligned with business and regulatory goals.
• Develop sustainable packaging concepts that meet EPR, PPT, PPWR and FPR requirements.
• Lead end‑to‑end packaging design, testing, validation and commercialization projects.
• Advise clients on material selection, circularity, recyclability and cost‑effective sustainability improvements.
• Identify opportunities to enhance packaging quality, performance, consumer convenience and cost competitiveness.
• Conceptualize AI‑enabled tools for packaging R&D, material intelligence and sustainability analytics.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams in R&D, procurement, manufacturing, quality and sustainability.
• Support proposal development, client presentations and pre‑sales engagements.

Required profile

• 10‑12 years of experience in packaging innovation, sustainability or product development within leading industry firms.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Packaging, Materials, Polymer, Food, Chemical, Mechanical or Pharmaceutical Sciences.
• Proven track record in packaging R&D, testing, validation, launch and commercialization.
• Strong knowledge of flexible, rigid, paper‑based and protective packaging solutions.
• Familiarity with packaging regulations (EPR, PPT, PPWR, FPR) and waste‑reduction initiatives.
