Software Support Engineer – Tier 3

About the role

We are looking for a highly talented Software Support Engineer to join our unique team at Applied Materials. The role provides software support for products installed at customer sites worldwide, collaborating with global support functions, R&D, hardware and application teams.

Key responsibilities

• Act as Tier‑3 technical support for software issues, handling field escalations that do not require code changes.
• Independently resolve complex customer issues by analyzing software, IT, and database problems.
• Reproduce customer issues on internal systems, perform root‑cause analysis and provide troubleshooting plans to Tier‑1 and Tier‑2 teams.
• Participate in software development road‑map milestones, feature reviews, and customer demos, providing support‑related inputs for new versions.
• Perform on‑site installations, software upgrades, and support local teams during complex cases.
• Develop training programs, utilities, and documentation for field engineers and end users.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in technical support or a similar Tier‑3 role.
• Strong self‑learning capability and passion for new technologies.
• Willingness to work off‑hours, weekends and travel up to 20 % of the time.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field.
