Software Engineer II

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Software Engineer II to design, develop, and maintain scalable cloud‑based applications. The role focuses on integrating AI technologies into the software development lifecycle and supporting the payments ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, efficient, and reliable applications in a cloud environment.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, and senior engineers to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Drive adoption of AI tools such as generative AI, coding assistants, and agent‑based workflows to improve productivity and code quality.
• Participate in code reviews, unit, integration testing, and deployment processes.
• Monitor systems, respond to incidents, and conduct root‑cause analysis.
• Research emerging technologies and create proof‑of‑concepts to enhance product performance.

Required profile

• 4–6 years of professional software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and debugging abilities.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with global cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Java (Java 8 or higher) and Spring Boot.
• Azure public cloud and general cloud‑native development.
• Microservices architecture, RESTful APIs.
• Relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra).
• CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito) and practices (TDD, BDD).
• AI development tools (GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor).
• Infrastructure‑as‑code tools (Terraform, Ansible) – optional.
