Software Development Manager – Financial Services Platform

About the role

Amazon Financials Foundation Services (AFFS) is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead a high‑performing engineering team that builds, scales, monitors and optimizes core financial systems used across Amazon’s global e‑commerce ecosystem. The role works closely with Retail, Marketplace, Digital, Web services and Finance teams to deliver reliable, high‑throughput software.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit, develop and retain a best‑in‑class engineering team delivering rapid iterations.
• Design and implement state‑of‑the‑art solutions for complex, ambiguous problems in high‑volume, highly available services.
• Drive engineering and operational excellence through metrics, code reviews and continuous learning.
• Define long‑term strategy, translate it into roadmaps and action plans, and report progress to senior management.
• Mentor senior software development engineers (SDEs) to assume greater responsibilities.

Required profile

• Hands‑on manager with a proven track record in developing high‑volume, highly available services.
• Strong technical ability and excellent communication skills.
• Motivated to achieve results in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
• Minimum 7 years of software engineering experience.
• At least 3 years of engineering team management experience.
• 8 + years leading definition and development of multi‑tier web services.
