Senior Purchasing Specialist

About the role

Bechtel is seeking a Senior Purchasing Specialist to join its India offices in Gurugram, Chennai or Vadodara. The role involves managing the full lifecycle of purchase orders for large‑scale infrastructure projects, ensuring that supplier commitments align with project requirements and company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Form, administer, and expedite purchase orders for project needs.
• Communicate with suppliers and internal teams to define requirements and monitor performance against purchase‑order terms.
• Prepare bidder pre‑qualifications, bidder lists, solicitation documents, and conduct bid analysis.
• Develop negotiation plans, make recommendations, and secure commitments.
• Ensure compliance with project sourcing strategies, Approved Manufacturers List, financing considerations, and tariff/quota risks.
• Obtain necessary approvals before finalizing commitments.
• Supervise, train, and guide junior purchasing or expediting staff as required.

Required profile

• Experience in procurement or purchasing within construction or engineering environments.
• Ability to maintain effective relationships with supply‑chain personnel, bidders, and suppliers.
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to compliance and approval processes.
• Capability to work under project schedules and deliver timely results.
