Lead Solution Architect / Senior Solution Architect – Java

About the role

We are looking for a highly experienced, hands‑on Lead or Senior Solution Architect with deep Java expertise to design and deliver scalable, secure, cloud‑native solutions for a major enterprise commerce platform. The role will focus on Microsoft Azure but candidates with production‑grade experience on AWS or GCP are also welcome.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and lead development of microservices‑based, event‑driven cloud‑native systems.
• Design and implement Kubernetes solutions (preferably AKS) and service‑mesh technologies such as Istio.
• Define and enforce architectural standards, patterns, and best practices across engineering teams.
• Drive performance optimisation through end‑to‑end testing to ensure scalability, responsiveness and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align technical solutions with business goals.
• Produce clear architectural diagrams and documentation using tools like Miro, Gliffy or Draw.io.
• Guide cloud adoption, modernisation and optimisation initiatives.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and assess their relevance to the business.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience in cloud architecture, preferably in the banking domain.
• Proven production experience with at least one major cloud provider (Azure, AWS or GCP).
• Strong background in Kubernetes, container orchestration and service‑mesh technologies.
• Experience with cloud networking, IAM, security and infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep).
• Demonstrated ability to lead architectural discussions and influence technical direction.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
