Lead – Full Stack Web Applications

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Lead for Full Stack Web Applications to provide technical leadership and hands‑on delivery of modern, scalable, and secure web platforms. The role combines architecture ownership, deep engineering expertise, and people leadership, working closely with Product, UX, Data, and DevOps teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end solution design, architecture, and implementation using Java (Spring Boot) and/or Python (Django/DRF) together with React, Next.js and TypeScript.
• Define system boundaries, API contracts, data models and non‑functional requirements such as availability, latency, scalability, resilience and security.
• Mentor engineers, enforce engineering standards, conduct code reviews and drive best practices across the full stack.
• Drive CI/CD automation with Git, Jenkins, Docker and Kubernetes and support cloud‑native deployments on Azure and/or AWS.
• Ensure performance optimisation, observability, secure‑by‑design principles and accessibility compliance (WCAG 2.1).

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with full‑stack delivery ownership.
• 2+ years in a technical leadership role (Tech Lead, Lead Engineer or equivalent) mentoring engineers and driving standards.

Required skills

• Java (expert), Spring Boot (expert), Python (good to have), Django/Django REST Framework.
• RESTful API design, SQL & relational databases.
• React.js, Next.js (advanced), Redux, JavaScript (expert), TypeScript, HTML & CSS (expert).
