Inspection Engineer (Civil)

About the role

The Inspection Engineer (Civil) acts as an independent third‑party QA/QC authority for precast structural building elements such as columns, beams, slabs, wall panels and staircases. The role ensures that manufacturing, handling and erection strictly follow approved drawings, specifications, international standards and contractual requirements, in line with the Bureau Veritas Quality Assurance System.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve concrete mix designs, material submittals and batch‑plant calibration records before casting.
• Witness and document all casting operations, including formwork inspection, rebar placement, cover verification and concrete pour.
• Conduct in‑process and final dimensional checks on precast elements against shop drawings and tolerances.
• Monitor concrete curing regimes (steam/moist) and verify temperature‑time logs.
• Oversee sampling and testing of concrete cubes/cylinders, review test certificates from accredited labs and issue acceptance.
• Inspect pre‑pour moulds, reinforcement, surface finish and reject non‑conforming items, raising NCRs with corrective actions.
• Audit lifting, stacking, storage and transportation procedures to prevent damage.
• Review erection method statements and perform joint, connection and grouting inspections on‑site.
• Verify post‑tensioning/pre‑tensioning operations, strand placement and stressing records where applicable.
• Prepare and submit weekly/monthly inspection reports, ITP sign‑offs and final quality dossiers to the client.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (B.E./B.Tech or equivalent).
• Proven experience in QA/QC of precast concrete elements and familiarity with international standards.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
• Ability to work independently and communicate findings clearly.
