HVAC Design Engineer

About the role

Johnson Controls is seeking an HVAC Design Engineer to join its Global Marine & Navy business in Kochi, India. You will contribute to the design, supply, and commissioning of complex HVAC and refrigeration systems for naval vessels such as OPVs, mine hunters, submarines, and aircraft carriers.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare technical proposals and respond to HVAC enquiries.
• Develop concepts through detailed design, supporting installation and commissioning phases.
• Perform HVAC load calculations and write detailed system specifications.
• Create test procedures, technical reports, and conduct site surveys when required.
• Engage with clients and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and class rules.
• Identify new products or technologies to create market differentials.
• Review OEM designs for compliance before manufacture.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, or Refrigeration.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to prioritize workloads and meet project deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and 3D.
• Experience with Autodesk Inventor.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and air‑conditioning systems.
• Hands‑on experience in HVAC or mechanical systems design.
