GL Accountant – General Ledger (US GAAP)

About the role

The GL Accountant will ensure that all General Ledger transactions for entities managed by the India Finance Shared Services Center are captured accurately and reported in compliance with US GAAP and statutory requirements. The role supports month‑end close, reconciliations and audit activities while collaborating with other finance functions.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update GL accounts for US GAAP and statutory reporting across the India FSSC entities.
• Perform timely monthly balance‑sheet reconciliations using Blackline and resolve any discrepancies.
• Prepare journal entries, pre‑payment schedules, accruals and ensure proper period posting.
• Execute month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end closing activities, including corporate reporting and QVR preparation.
• Conduct balance‑sheet and income‑statement analyses, variance reviews and budget comparisons.
• Support internal control reviews, Sarbanes‑Oxley compliance and respond to internal/external audit requests.
• Assist in special projects such as migration of local month‑end processes to the Shared Services Centre and drive process improvements with Reporting, SAP, FP&A and Tax teams.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant, CPA, ACCA, Cost Accountant or equivalent degree in accounting and finance.
• 3‑5 years of relevant experience, preferably within a finance shared services environment of a large multinational.
• Experience with high‑volume ERP systems, preferably SAP and Hyperion.
• Familiarity with US GAAP, statutory reporting and Sarbanes‑Oxley control requirements.
