Engineer/Senior Engineer - Layout

About the role

The Engineer/Senior Engineer – Layout will work within KONE's engineering team to analyse technical requirements, design optimal elevator layout solutions and produce detailed 2‑D mechanical drawings. The role requires strong mechanical engineering knowledge and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders to deliver customer‑focused outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse technical requirements and identify possible layout solutions.
• Select the optimal product or solution that meets customer needs.
• Clarify unclear requirements with stakeholders and decide on the best approach.
• Design solutions and components to meet specific customer specifications.
• Create detailed 2‑D mechanical AutoCAD drawings and related engineering outputs.
• Consider cost levels of components and integrate cost knowledge into design decisions.
• Incorporate safety, codes, standards, installability, maintainability, manufacturability and sustainability into designs.
• Self‑check work outputs and participate in peer reviews.
• Report progress promptly and communicate any deviations from specifications.
• Share knowledge within the team, act as a trainer when needed, and support R&D or change‑request processes.

Required profile

• 4–6 years of experience, preferably in the elevator industry.
• Strong mechanical engineering background.
• Proficiency in Mechanical 2D AutoCAD.
• Strong communication skills.
• Knowledge of any European language is an advantage.
