Cyber Security Officer

About the role

We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Cyber Security Officer to join our Digital Services team. Reporting to the Cyber Operations Manager, you will help maintain and develop the cyber security infrastructure that protects the organisation's systems, data and services.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain and improve security technologies such as anti‑virus solutions, firewalls, internet filtering, vulnerability management, endpoint protection and secure remote access.
• Support cyber incident response, security audits and compliance activities.
• Assist in the delivery of new security initiatives and the development of security policies.
• Provide technical guidance to colleagues across Digital Services and NHS Scotland networks.
• Ensure systems remain secure, resilient and compliant with recognised industry standards.

Required profile

• Significant experience working within a cyber security or IT environment.
• Degree‑level education in a relevant cyber security qualification.
• Strong technical knowledge of modern cyber security technologies, tools and best practices.
• Familiarity with security frameworks and standards such as ISO27001, NCSC, NIST, CIS and PCI‑DSS.
• Analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a collaborative approach.
