Construction Engineer

About the role

Alfa Laval is seeking a Construction Engineer to lead execution of international and Indian projects for its process plant portfolio. The role involves managing site activities, ensuring compliance with internal standards, and delivering projects on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Manage employees, including hiring, firing, motivation, and practical administration.
• Oversee resource allocation, distribute site work, and monitor progress.
• Ensure construction activities follow internal rules and the 6 Basics.
• Monitor installation quality, costs, construction hours, and conduct project reviews.
• Serve as KPI owner for the department and support employees with operational tasks.
• Attend site review meetings with customers, consultants, and external suppliers.
• Recommend monthly invoicing for erection and commissioning and provide cost provisions.
• Ensure health & safety measures are implemented and reported daily.
• Prepare and circulate project status reports and resolve operational bottlenecks.
• Hand over mechanical completion documents to the Project Manager.

Required profile

• Good knowledge of construction activities for process plants (structure, erection, piping & electrical systems).
• Understanding of labour laws and ability to apply them on site.
• Leadership and supervisory experience, including KPI ownership.

Required skills

• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience with MS Project or other project‑management tools.
