Cashier – Branch Banking

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at the branch in line with internal and external banking guidelines. The role includes processing cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders, and handling cash withdrawals and deposits, as well as performing end‑of‑day reconciliation and maintaining accurate registers.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments, providing acknowledgements on counterfoils.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests, collect cash for deposits, and record all transactions in the banking system.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash and assets registers, and submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tally, prepare the End‑of‑Day branch report, and manage the branch vault jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers, address queries, cross‑sell products, and educate them on alternate channels.
• Ensure compliance with TAT, bank policies, and regulatory requirements for all cashier operations.

Required profile

• Graduation in any discipline, preferably Finance or Commerce.
• 1–2 years of experience handling high‑volume cash transactions.
• Experience with financial modules/ERP for entry and consolidation of accounting data.
• Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
