Bank Cashier – Branch Operations

About the role

The Bank Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at the branch in line with internal and external banking guidelines. The role ensures accurate processing, reconciliation and safe handling of cash, while delivering courteous service to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments, providing acknowledgements.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments according to EMI schedules and maintain appropriate system entries.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty cash register, assets register and submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tally, prepare end‑of‑day reports and ensure accurate vault operations jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers, explain repayment dates, promote bank products and guide them to alternate channels.
• Count and verify cash at the start and end of the day, safeguard cash, keys and valuables in safe custody.
• Adhere to defined turnaround times, comply with all regulations and bank policies related to cashier operations.
• Validate customer authenticity during cash withdrawals and verify deposit slip accuracy for audit purposes.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate cash registers.
• Excellent customer service orientation and communication skills.
• Understanding of banking procedures and compliance requirements.
• Ability to work collaboratively with branch staff and handle cash securely.
• Reliability in meeting daily reconciliation and reporting deadlines.
