AVP Controls Assurance – Finance Risk Management

About the role

The AVP Controls Assurance will support the Finance function by managing and delivering a full range of control services, ensuring the integrity and compliance of Barclays' control environment.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with business units to execute ad‑hoc assessments and test the design and operational effectiveness of internal controls.
• Develop detailed test plans, identify control weaknesses, and prioritize remediation based on risk impact.
• Communicate findings and corrective actions to senior managers and stakeholders.
• Maintain a knowledge centre with documentation of assessments, testing procedures, and training material.

Required profile

• Formal accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
• Experience in product control, financial control, regulatory reporting or auditing within financial services.
• Strong understanding of SOX requirements and the COSO framework.
• Effective written and oral communication skills, able to present to senior stakeholders.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (large data sets, pivots, formulas, VLOOKUP).
• Data‑analytics tools such as Alteryx and Tableau.
• Knowledge of operational risk and control processes.
