Video News Producer

About the role

Newsweek is looking for a Video News Producer to create high‑impact video, graphics and visual assets that enhance its journalism across the website, social channels and YouTube. Working in a fast‑paced newsroom, you will turn breaking‑news developments into engaging visual stories that increase audience dwell time.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, create or source video, stills, graphics and data visuals that add editorial value to stories.
• Monitor news feeds, agency video streams and social platforms to quickly produce and publish video for breaking and trending stories.
• Ingest, label and position assets correctly in the CMS and across distribution platforms.
• Tailor each video for its destination (website, social, YouTube) by adjusting format, length and storytelling style.
• Collaborate with newsdesk, reporters, editors and social teams to align visual priorities.
• Maintain organized asset libraries and provide detailed handover notes for shift continuity.
• Leverage AI‑driven production tools to improve speed and quality.

Required profile

• Strong editorial judgment and understanding of how visuals support journalism.
• Passion for U.S. news and current events.
• 2‑5 years of experience producing video content in a newsroom or digital media environment.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and respond rapidly to breaking news.
