Senior SAP ABAP Manager – Lead Development Practice

About the role

The Senior SAP ABAP Manager will head the ABAP development practice within a global SAP delivery centre. You will design, develop and implement complex SAP solutions across ECC and S/4HANA, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with business goals.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor ABAP development teams, fostering a culture of high‑quality code.
• Oversee end‑to‑end SAP implementation projects, delivering on time and within budget.
• Review and approve technical designs, custom code, and RICEFW objects, enforcing SAP best practices and clean‑core principles.
• Collaborate with functional consultants and business stakeholders to define architecture and resolve complex requirements.
• Troubleshoot critical issues, drive performance optimisation, and maintain system stability.
• Champion modern SAP technologies such as CDS views, AMDP, OData, Fiori/UI5, SAP BTP, CPI, RAP and ABAP Cloud.
• Define coding standards, quality gates and governance policies across all projects.
• Ensure comprehensive documentation and compliance with corporate and audit standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 10–15 years of SAP ABAP development experience, including 4–6 years in leadership or management roles.
• Extensive experience delivering large‑scale SAP ECC and S/4HANA projects.
• Proven ability to lead large, globally distributed teams.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
