Senior R&D Engineer – Cloud Operations & Infrastructure

About the role

As a Senior Member of the Technical Staff in the Cloud Operations & Infrastructure team, you will design, develop and operate advanced cloud‑based applications that support AVEVA’s industrial software portfolio. The role blends software development with cloud operations to ensure secure, stable and scalable delivery of cloud‑enabled products.

Key responsibilities

• Develop micro‑services and serverless functions on Azure and/or AWS platforms.
• Collaborate with development teams to improve operational stability, security, cost efficiency and reporting.
• Continuously enhance DevOps processes through automation, optimization and robust reporting.
• Respond to incidents promptly, minimise customer impact and keep stakeholders informed.
• Oversee cloud deployments, track progress and resolve or escalate release issues.
• Manage cloud environments (IaC, certificates, storage, health and backup status) to prevent service‑impacting problems.
• Validate new services against operational readiness standards before production hand‑over.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with security policies and best practices.
• Provide subject‑matter expertise to business stakeholders and maintain accurate operational documentation.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in software development or DevOps/SRE, with at least 5 years focused on cloud environments.
• Strong programming background, preferably in C# and .NET Core.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Node.js or Python.
• Hands‑on experience with Azure and/or AWS services.
