About the role

Bosch is looking for a proficient Switch‑Mode Power Supply Design Engineer to develop onboard chargers and DC‑DC converters for electric vehicles. The role covers the full development cycle from concept modelling to prototype validation, with a strong focus on magnetic component design and electromagnetic simulation.

Key responsibilities

  • Design AC‑DC (11 kW) and DC‑DC (5 kW) SMPS topologies such as Flyback, LLC, Buck/Boost and PFC.
  • Perform power‑stage calculations, device selection, control‑loop design and thermal/derating analysis.
  • Design transformers, inductors, chokes and custom magnetic components for high‑voltage (400 V/800 V) and high‑current (200 A) applications.
  • Run 2D/3D electromagnetic simulations using ANSYS Maxwell, CST or COMSOL to evaluate core and copper losses, parasitics and skin‑effect losses.
  • Conduct circuit simulations with LTspice, PSIM, PSpice or MATLAB/Simulink and build hardware prototypes for efficiency, transient response and thermal performance.
  • Perform hands‑on lab measurements with oscilloscopes, power analyzers, LCR meters and thermal imaging equipment.
  • Debug designs, carry out root‑cause analysis and iterate improvements while ensuring compliance with IEC, UL, CISPR and automotive standards.
  • Prepare schematics, BOMs, design reports, test plans and validation documentation.

Required profile

  • M.Tech or PhD in Power Electronics or a related field.
