Pharmacist (Hospital)

About the role

The hospital pharmacist is responsible for ensuring safe and effective medication management across all departments. This role involves handling a wide range of prescriptions, supervising dispensing activities, and maintaining accurate drug records.

Key responsibilities

• Process semi‑controlled and uncontrolled drug prescriptions.
• Maintain records for semi‑controlled substances and update narcotic registers.
• Supervise dispensing through assistant pharmacists and verify LASA/high‑risk medications.
• Manage pharmacy stock, conduct weekly expiry checks, and arrange goods on appropriate racks.
• Enter purchase data, forward invoices to finance, and coordinate with vendors.
• Handle narcotic indents, emergency issue books, and near‑expiry drug management.
• Consult physicians for alternative therapies when medications are unavailable.
• Counsel patients on dosage and proper medication use.

Required profile

• B.Pharm or D.Pharm (Diploma) with mandatory KSPC registration.
• Strong pharmacological knowledge and clinical judgment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
• Commitment to continual learning and precision in medication handling.
