About the role
Bechtel is seeking an experienced employment lawyer to join its Global Labor and Employment Law team in Gurugram. The Legal Counsel will provide day‑to‑day legal support on all employment and labor matters, ensuring compliance with Indian law across Bechtel’s offices and project sites.
Key responsibilities
- Act as a trusted advisor to HR, Employee Relations and business units on end‑to‑end employment and labor law issues.
- Draft, review and update employment contracts, HR policies, workforce documentation and related agreements.
- Advise on employee consultations, labor authority filings, investigations, disciplinary actions and terminations.
- Manage employment‑related disputes, including demand letters, litigation, arbitration and coordination with external counsel.
- Monitor regulatory developments and labor code changes, providing risk assessments and mitigation strategies to senior stakeholders.
Required profile
- Qualified lawyer with a strong background in Indian labor and employment law.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience handling corporate employment matters, preferably in a multinational environment.
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining regular communication with internal teams and external advisors.
- Excellent analytical, drafting and negotiation skills.
Required skills
- Legal research and interpretation of Indian labor statutes.
- Drafting and negotiating employment, consulting, secondment and agency agreements.
- Dispute resolution, including litigation and arbitration management.
- Stakeholder communication and advisory across HR, finance and procurement functions.
