Head of Architecture – Lead Multidisciplinary Team

About the role

The Head of Architecture will provide strategic vision and leadership for a multidisciplinary architecture unit, driving growth and aligning the team’s objectives with the organisation’s overall strategy. This senior role oversees complex, large‑scale projects from concept to delivery while acting as the primary client and stakeholder liaison.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and inspire a multidisciplinary architecture team, setting strategic goals and ensuring high performance.
• Oversee project planning and delivery, guaranteeing adherence to time, quality and budget standards.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders to define project parameters and maintain a strong client focus.
• Review and optimise workflows, driving efficiencies and best‑practice project management.
• Provide high‑level technical oversight, guiding the team through complex architectural challenges.
• Stay current with UK industry standards, legislation and emerging architectural trends.
• Serve as senior point of contact for clients, translating architectural insights into actionable recommendations.
• Present strategic updates, project progress and analytical insights to senior leadership and UK teams.

Required profile

• Proven track record of successfully leading large, complex architectural consulting projects.
• Strong vision for unit growth and ability to align objectives with organisational goals.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated experience in succession planning, staff development and resource management.
• Ability to make decisive, problem‑solving decisions and manage budgets and timelines.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of architectural design and development consulting for UK‑based projects.
• Strong understanding of UK regulatory frameworks, standards and best practices.
• Proficiency with architectural design software, tools and project management methodologies.
