Geology/Geotech Expert

About the role

SMEC is seeking an experienced Geology/Geotechnical Expert to support a major power and energy project in Hyderabad, Pakistan. The role involves conducting thorough ground assessments, providing technical input to design teams, and managing geotechnical risks.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct geological and geotechnical investigations, including field investigations and data collection.
• Review soil, rock, and subsurface conditions and advise the design team.
• Monitor geotechnical risks and recommend mitigation measures.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, and geotechnical guidelines.
• Prepare technical reports documenting findings and recommendations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related field.
• 7‑10 years of experience in geological and geotechnical assessments, preferably on power, energy or infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in a consultancy environment and ability to work with cross‑functional teams.
• Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
