Fire Fighter

About the role

The Fire Fighter role at IGI Airport is essential for rapid response to fire and life‑safety emergencies across terminals, buildings and aircraft. The incumbent will conduct rescue operations, provide first‑aid medical assistance, and ensure the readiness of all firefighting equipment to protect passengers, staff and airport infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to fire emergencies in aircraft, terminals and other airport facilities, following the ARFF manual.
• Rescue trapped individuals and guide passengers to safety during building‑related incidents.
• Provide medical first aid during emergencies.
• Maintain and service firefighting appliances, including hydraulic testing, painting and refilling of extinguishers.
• Drive and upkeep light‑weight utility and operational vehicles used on the airside.
• Patrol terminals and airport buildings, inspect fire protection and detection systems, and update checklists.
• Coordinate with internal teams (maintenance, airside operations, security) and external agencies (medical services, airlines, government bodies) during incidents.

Required profile

• Minimum education: 10+2, preferably with science subjects.
• Ability to work in a high‑stress, safety‑critical environment.
• Willingness to perform regular inspections, maintenance tasks and on‑site patrols.

Required skills

• Operation of firefighting equipment and appliances.
• Hydraulic testing and maintenance of fire extinguishers.
• Provision of first‑aid medical assistance.
• Driving and maintaining light‑weight utility vehicles on the airside.
